How does HostMonitor warn me of failures ?
HostMonitor provides several ways to respond to failed services. Audio and
visual notifications can alert people near the machine. E-mail notifications
can be used to inform a wider range of remote operators. This includes paging
on-call staff if their cellular phone or pager can accept e-mail messages.
HostMonitor also provides a batch processing feature which can be set to run
applications in response to failures. This gives you the opportunity to attempt
an automatic restart or recovery of the service.
You can specify different alert profiles to be alerted to different tests,
using several alert methods in each profile :
For example, if site www.yahoo.com is not reply for Ping then program will
play sound and send E-Mail to admin@yahoo.com. But if program will not retrieve
page www.ks-soft.net/hostmin.eng/index.htm then HostMonitor execute 'alert1.bat'
and send E-Mail to admin@ks-soft.net.
You can specify how long host must not respond to test before HostMonitor do alert actions.
Also you can specify different actions if host change his status to dead and to alive.
These timely alerts help to minimize network
downtime and keep small problems from snowballing into serious, debilitating
network issues.

Configurable log files & Log Analyzer
HostMonitor can log application events to a log file. Different log file detail
levels (only errors/normal/full) and log file formats (text or HTML) can be configured
to suit your needs. see example

each tested host, collect statistical information, show a graph of all request
times for specific time, etc.
